I Ate Too Much Turkey, Now What?
Is this you?
Despite all my good intentions, I ate too much over Thanksgiving. I ate WAY too much turkey, stuffing, potatoes, yam casserole (with marshmallows on the top), cranberry sauce, pie and cookies, goodies, dip. I bet I gained 100 pounds! What Now?
Not to sound preachy, but first of all be thankful that you COULD overeat. With all the disasters in the world, there are people who would love to have your problem.
Next … just get back on track. Now. Today. Don’t wait till Wednesday and another 200 pounds! START NOW. Even if it is the middle of the day and you’ve already eaten too much.
Get right back into healthy eating by CHOOSING to eat smaller portions. Or CHOOSE to put only three things on your plate.
For breakfast maybe have a turkey sandwich, without the mayo … try a BIT of cranberry sauce. At lunch, have a veggie salad made from all your leftover vegetables … and mix in some fresh lettuce or veggies. For dinner have a small portion of turkey with only two vegetables. Skip the rest. Feeling deprived? OK have ONE SMALL goodie.
Today … get the gang off the couch and go for a group walk or adventure. Drive to a local park or go sight seeing with your visitors. Move your body.
And finally, don’t beat yourself up about over indulging. We all do it from time to time … your goal could be to have the “times” become further and further apart. You’ve got to start trusting yourself. “YES, I may over-indulge from time to time, and yes I CAN stop. YES I CAN get back on my healthy eating plan! NOW!!
